Master Your Studies with Smart Learning Techniques

Arya College of Engineering & I.T. says Developing skills in learning is more beneficial than trying to put additional hours into studying. Various learning methods are able to help students memorize and apply the knowledge in practical cases, such as during examinations or assignment writing.

The best method is active recall. Rather than re-reading the notes, it is necessary to close the book and try to memorize everything starting from scratch. In other words, one may answer some practice questions, prepare flashcards, or write down all the knowledge one has about a specific topic without referring to one's notes.

There is a space repetition as well as an efficient method of studying. Instead of devoting too many hours to one topic, it is important to repeat it over several days or even weeks. In other words, one may study a particular topic today and then review it tomorrow, after several days, and right before the exam.

Another interesting method is the Pomodoro technique, which implies that a student studies for 25 minutes and takes a 5-minute break. This process repeats itself until one does this cycle four times and takes a longer break.

There is another technique called interleaving that means mixing different subjects or different kinds of questions while studying. In case one studies math, he or she may switch from algebra to geometry and then solve some word problems.

Teaching the material that you have learned to someone else is another great way to study. One may explain the information in simple language as if he or she were doing it to a friend. If one manages to do that, that means that he or she managed to memorize the information, and otherwise, it becomes clear what aspects should be paid attention to.

The method of studying is also crucial. Find a quiet place, turn off your phone, and have definite objectives for each time you study. In fact, you should not just say, “I will study Science.” You may say, “I will study two chapters and solve ten questions.”
